Trivia[]
- This is one of the two Parodies of Jack and Diane written by "Weird Al"
- Although this is lyrically a parody of John Mellencamp's "Jack and Diane," the two songs are totally different musically. “Buckingham Blues” had originally been planned as a full parody of the Mellencamp song, but at the time the singer was developing a film adaptation and asked that Al refrain so as not to risk compromising the project.
- There are also musical nods to other blues rock songs such as "Eyesight to the Blind" by Aerosmith, "Long Train Runnin'" by The Doobie Brothers, and "Bad to the Bone" by George Thorogood and the Destroyers.
- This song is referenced on the album's cover by the little toy double-decker bus.
- In an oddity for his eponymous debut album, "Weird Al"'s accordion, while not absent, is barely audible on this song, being largely buried under the sound of William K. Anderson's harmonica.
