Trivia[]
- 'Gotta Boogie' was originally written and performed live as a disco parody using a punch balloon as the bass drum. It was co-written by Joe Earley, the original bass player before Steve Jay joined the band. Joe sings lead vocals on the earliest recording at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo on August 7, 1980. Al sings lead vocals at the first electric performance at Knotts Berry Farm on June 12, 1981 in which Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz plays drums and Joe Earley plays bass. A studio version was later recorded and released on Al's 'Another One Rides the Bus' EP, then later on the first LP "'Weird Al' Yankovic".
- This song is referenced on the album cover of "'Weird Al' Yankovic" by the inclusion of disco ball.
