- In April 2011, Yankovic uploaded a simple lyric video, explaining that he was denied by Lady Gaga to release "Perform This Way". After the upload, Lady Gaga took notice shortly after, and it was discovered that she had not heard the song herself, and her manager was responsible for the refusal, therefore giving the green light to release the parody.
- Regardless of Gaga's approval, the sales of the song were still contributed to charity.
